I love it when my house smells amazing. While I don’t bother putting too much of an effort usually, Christmas is different. I go all the way out to ensure my house smells delicious during Christmas, here are some Christmas decor tips that will help you can achieve the same!

Potpourri

When Potpourri first became popular, I thought it was just another overhyped fad that I didn’t have to bother with, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. After having used Potpourri in my house, I can tell you that this stuff is amazing! Not only does it look pretty but also smells amazing! Here are my two favourite kinds of potpourri for Christmas!

Regular potpourri

Nature smells so good!

You can opt for regular potpourri but if you want to make it more Christmas-like, I suggest using winter flowers and maybe slices of dried lemon and orange in addition to wood shavings.

Simmering Potpourri

Who knew spices smelt so good?

But if you are anything like me and really want to go in all for Christmas, I suggest you try the full-fledged Christmas simmering potpourri! Add cloves, star anise, cinnamon, lemon slices, orange slices in a simmering pot and let the ambrosial scent spread all over the house.

Candles

This goes without saying. One of the fool-proof ways to make your house smell good is by lighting some scented candles. Here are some candles that are guaranteed to make your house smell like the epitome of Christmas! And we all know that candles are an essential part of Christmas decorations.

Tying cinnamon sticks around a regular candle is one of the easiest ways to make your house smell good. I’ll have to warn you that the smell of cinnamon can make you crave for cinnamon buns!

If you can’t afford the time to make your own candles and prefer synthetic scents, you should opt for seasonal candles. Many companies like Bath & Bodyworks and Yankee make amazing seasonal candles for Christmas. If you can get your hands on them, there is nothing like it!

Vanilla freshener

Vanilla for the win!

Have some guests coming over? Just pop in a few drops of vanilla essence in a microwaveable bowl and pop it into the microwave for a few seconds. Your house will smell like a freshly baked vanilla cake.

Alternatively, you can also make a Vanilla room spray and use it once a day and the smell will linger on for hours.

Wardrobe fresheners

Make your clothes smell amazing!

When I talk about making your house smell like Christmas, I also mean the inside of the cupboards and closets. Wardrobe fresheners that come in the form of sachets are the best way of making your clothes and your closet smell good. Choose your favourite fragrance and place the sachets in the books and corners of the closet.

Diffuser with EO

Add a few drops of your favourite essential oil in a humidifier. Buh-bye dry skin and curry smelling house!

Bake some cookies

What better way to make your house smell amazing than bake cookies? Cakes work too! Actually, any Christmas treat will do the trick!

Bake or build a gingerbread house
