I love Diwali!, Yes, guilty as charged. Ever since I was a small boy, we would celebrate the festival of lights at home with our closest relatives. Typically, the celebration would include stuffing our mouths with lots of sweets (of countless variety), exchanging exciting presents, and literally turning the house into an amusement park! Fun times.
Staying in line with the approaching Diwali festivities, I felt that a gift guide would be perfect to help you guys figure out amazing gift ideas for your loved ones! After all, happiness should be shared in tremendous amounts!
So, here goes…
LED candles
As compared to their traditional counterparts, these LED candles lasted longer when we had them in our house previous Diwali. Conventional oil diyas typically last for only a few hours whereas these beauties lasted the whole night and some more the next day! From a distance, you could not tell an LED candle from a conventional diya, however, up close you can make out that these are flameless! Since our daughter came along, we’ve had to be super careful with respect to lighting diyas and candles inside the house. Since Shayla is crawling all over the place, LED candles are a much safer option and make for a great Diwali gift as well!
Candleholders
Hanging lantern candle holders have become crazy popular in houses, especially during Diwali! You can see people posh-ing their gardens up with these artsy lanterns that come in a wide assortment of colours and patterns! My wife loves hanging these exotic-looking candle holders all over our garden and the view thereafter is breathtaking! These lanterns are built with iron so they can easily be a part of your home decor for a long time. Moreover, they make for an extremely pocket-friendly yet magnificent Diwali gift.
Aromatic oil burners
This gift was like a blessing! I love a nice smelling home and when I’m able to make it so with natural, organic ingredients, I feel elated. My wife’s sister gifted us a Buddha oil diffuser which from a distance looks like just another ceramic artefact! The real magic occurs when we place a tea light candle behind it, and it burns with the oil burner placed just above it! The ensuing aroma is absolutely entrancing and we have not bought a single air freshener ever since. Needless to say, I have become a devotee of this gift and highly recommend it.
Diwali pooja thali
A perfect gift for your close friends and relatives! A typical pooja thali comes with accessories such as a bell, an incense stick holder, a candle, a bowl for kumkum, and a panchamrut set! It is a heartwarmingly pleasant gift and will make your festival more divine. It also sets the perfect tone for Diwali celebrations in my house. My mother-in-law gets us these amazingly artsy pooja thalis with some of the fanciest accessories every year for Diwali.
Torans
Another heartfelt gift for your loved ones, Torans are considered highly auspicious in the Indian culture and they are believed to ward off evil spirits! We typically tie a Toran at the entry gate of our house every year during Diwali. I prefer to have the metal toran in my house as compared to the floral one, as it has a relatively long lifespan. However, you can also go for the floral ones! Spice up your loved ones’ festival with this thoughtful and budget-friendly Diwali gift.
If nothing else works out, there are always gift cards – mankind’s freedom to buy whatever they want to, from cutlery to sky lanterns! Gift cards are also perfect in case you have some last-minute shopping to do.
The above-mentioned Diwali gifts have always brought joy into my home and I hope they lighten up your festival as well. Let me know which ones you liked the best in the comments below.
A happy and prosperous Diwali to you guys and your loved ones!
