With love!

I can’t be the only one who finds it incredibly hard to find gifts for men. I’m not saying it’s a breeze to shop for women but it’s definitely easier than shopping for a man. I’ve never had trouble finding the right gift for the women in my life but I’ve always struggled with finding a gift for the men in my life that will actually get a better reaction than just a ‘thanks’. Over the years, I’ve realised that men tend to like personalised and handmade gifts over store-bought ones. Who knew! If you are looking for a gift that puts a smile on your boyfriend’s/husband’s face, you’ve come to the right place. Here are a variety of fun, romantic, and practical DIY gifts for your husband or boyfriend!

Fun gifts for Husband

Bouquet of flowers made with bacon
Don’t go bacon my heart!

If you think men won’t go gaga over a bouquet of flowers, you are wrong. Well, you are not entirely wrong. It just depends on what kind of flowers you are getting him. A bouquet of long-stemmed red roses might not make him smile from ear to ear, but an edible bouquet of bacon flowers will have him looking at you all googly-eyed. Yes, this might not smell or look pleasant to you but the gift is for your husband, so just plug your nose and get to making some delicious bacon roses. The internet has bucket loads of ideas on how to make this unique bouquet.

Some man-cave decor

Wives and kids not allowed!

This funny board is the perfect gift for your husband’s mancave and it’s incredibly easy to make. All you need is some paint, a board and a clever mind to think of the perfect witty quote. Another fun idea for your man’s mancave is to make a poster with funny quotes or pictures of his favourite movies on it.

Make him a comic book hero!

You are my superhero!

Okay, I’ll admit it. I totally stole this idea from the TV series “The Office”. One of the main protagonists in the TV series makes a comic book for her husband where the superhero character is based on her husband. Regardless of whether your husband is a comic book fan or not, he will love this idea. I made a comic book for my man last year where his character was a marketing genius by the day and a crime-fighting superhero by the night. His partner in the comic book was none other than our dog, Drogon. If you are short on time, I suggest you use readymade comic templates available online for your DIY comic book.

Romantic gifts for husband

Love coupons
Coupons to steal his heart!

This is one of the most romantic ideas ever and works well for both men and women. There are hundreds of pre-filled love coupons available online or you can create your own ideas. Design coupons with a mix of nice, naughty, and romantic ideas to spice it up.

A trip down the memory lane

Remember when…

This gift will definitely make your husband nostalgic. Create an album with pictures of your memories together from screenshots of your cute texts to pictures of your first trip together. Alternatively, you can also make a video collage of your pictures and videos together and add your favourite song in the background. This is the only gift that got my husband teary-eyed while I bawl my eyes out at every little gesture from him.

Practical gifts for Husband

A custom wallet

Handcrafted with love!

Yes, your husband might already have a wallet but he doesn’t have one that’s handcrafted with love and affection. For his next birthday or valentine’s day, get your hands dirty and make him a wallet from scratch. You can even personalise it by etching his name on it. There are hundreds of tutorials on youtube on how to make wallets. And the best part? You’ll probably have enough supplies left over by the end of the project to make a wallet for yourself! It’s a win-win!

Spice it up!

A bottle of rum with cinnamon sticks and lemon next to it
Smooth and spicy!

If your husband appreciates a good bottle of rum, you should definitely make him a batch of customised spiced rum. You do not have to be an alcohol aficionado to whip up a nice bottle of spiced rum. All you need is the common sense to follow the instructions on the recipes available online and self-control to not finish the bottle yourself.

His own zen garden!

 Desktop zen garden
Gift him peace!

If your husband has a stressful job, this is the perfect gift for him. Make him a desktop zen garden that will help him keep the stress away and find some inner peace. If your husband is anything like mine and thinks a zen garden is too ‘feminine’, just add a Darth Vader figurine to make it ‘manly’ for him. He can keep this on his desk at work or on his work desk at home!
